Soak up the sun – go solar Muskoka!

With Hydro prices on a neverending climb, we all have to start looking for alternative sources for power.

Whether you are building a new cottage or home in Lake Of Bays / Muskoka its in your best interest to look into self sufficient power systems. Solar is now one of the most popular routes – although the price tag can be heavy.

Some parts of North America are getting it right, like California.

A new initiative in California is looking to help disadvantaged communities harness the power of the all great sun! Using money from government programs this project is pushing polluting companies to pay for solar panels on roofs of families that can’t afford it.

They will install solar arrays on over 1600 homes by the end of 2106. With donations and job training programs the costs will be kept very low. Most of these families will save upto a $1000 a year which will help them with other bills. They expect to finish the project by 2021 – this should be a great guideline for other North American communities to get onboard and soak up the sun.
