Did you know Muskoka / Lake Of Bays is home to a golden girl? Its not always about the summer and boating. Muskoka / Lake Of Bays has some amazing winter activities. Buy close to Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area and you can meet our very own golden girl.

Meet Dara Howell – Olympic Champion and Muskoka Ski Club’s little girl that could.

In 2014 Dara had small town Huntsville ready to celebrate – a Tawingo College kid, Huntsville High School graduate had big things in her sights.

Growing up skiing at the Muskoka Ski Club – Dara thrived. Muskoka Ski Club is the membership that owns and operates Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area. With its 200 plus membership they collectively operate a family driven club that provides a home to many kids who benefit from an at home atmosphere and ski coaches headed by Dara’s own uncle Bruce.

Enter 2014 Dara travels to Sochi for the Olympics and brings home to small town Huntsville gold, in the Women’s Freestyle program the first in Olympic History. The celebration that followed back in Huntsville at Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area was loud and joyous. The little girl that could was bringing gold home – has it changed her, no not really she will talk to every kid that approaches her and ski with them on the hill.

Dara is our local hero and it just shows what living a Muskoka / Lake Of Bays waterfront lifestyle can do for your kids.
