When heading north from Toronto to cottage country in Muskoka, the first town to greet you will be Gravenhurst Ontario. Gravenhurst has a rich history of cottaging and has two 2 large lakes where cottages are most prominent which are Lake Muskoka and Kashe Lake. Muldrew Lake is also another lake of note that offers deep water and many opportunities for re-sale cottages. A classic downtown core features a local brew pub, theatre and close by is the Muskoka wharf where more shopping continues. While at the wharf take a cruise on the Sequin, the oldest vessel working by steam in Canada. Other notable mentions are the Norman Bethune museum and Waterski shows at Gull Lake Park.
